POLICE investigating the alleged deliberate massacre of geese at Whittle Hall by a speeding motorist say no arrests have yet been made and are seeking witnesses to the incident.

An image circulating on social media appears to show a car hitting a flock of geese, with eyewitnesses reporting a number of birds being killed and injured.

Nearly 2,000 have signed an online petition calling for traffic calming near the Whittle Hall pond, following numerous incidents involving birds being killed or injured, with three incidents being reported on Saturday on Omega Boulevard and Kingsdale Road.

The petition started by local resident Catherine Forster states: “On 15th July 2023, 8 Greylag geese were mercilessly killed by a speeding driver, more were killed throughout the day, we are trying to keep these animals safe as they are next to a main road all we ask is for traffic calming measures and fencing around the pond to keep these beautiful characters safe, the photo is of the driver mowing these animals down who have been arrested but we need more to keep these animals safe. The geese are a protected species as they are in decline. Please help us to help them.” The petition can be signed by CLICKING HERE

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of an image circulating on social media which appears to show a blue car hitting a number of geese on Omega Boulevard in Warrington.
