RAIN had a major impact on cricket in the Warrington area, with most games affected and some washed out completely.
Grappenhall’s game at home to Widnes was abandoned after the visitors had hit 120-4 in 39 overs.
Ian Hall, Arav Shetty, Tom MacRury and Arran McCabe took a wicket each as Widnes struggled for runs. But when the rain arrived it put an end to play.
The seven points Grappers earned from the game were not enough to get them out of the Cheshire County League premier division relegation zone, although they are level on points with the team above them.
Grappenhall 2nd drew their game at Oulton Park after being put in and scoring 244-9.
Opener Daniel Adkins hit 81, Russell Walker 46 and James Knowles 32The home side were 223-9 at the close with Zach Tully taking 4-17.
Grappenhall 3rd’s game at Hyde was abandoned after Grappers had been put in and scored 109-2
James Knowles was 42 not out when the rains came.
Warrington’s match at Hawk Green was abandoned to the weather after 23 overs.
The visitors had won the toss and elected to bat first and had reached 95-3 when the rains came.
The reliable Thaakier Davids was 52 not out when the match was called off.
Warrington 2nd’home game against Stockport was also abandoned because of rain when the visitors were 190-3.
Warrington 3rd won by three wickets at Knutsford, hitting 182-7 after dismissing the home sikde for 179.
Shoaib Chattha took 4-40 and Hussain Mohy Ud Din 3-39.
Abdul Javed hammered 109 not out for Warrington.
Warrington 4h won by 72 runs at home to Rostherne.
Batting first, Warrington hit 199-5, Lovey |Kang 64 \and Anthony Gordon 41.
Rostherne were bowled out for 127, Harpreet Sandhu taking 5-33.
Lymm Oughtrington Park came out on top by one wicket in an exciting low-scoring derby game with Appleton at Oughtrington Lane.
Appleton batted first and hit 89-4 in the rain-affected game. Lymm replied with 92-9 to take the lion’s share of the points. Amir Aslam took 4-12 for Appleton.
Lymm 2nd won by 28 runs at Stockport Trinity.
Batting first, they hit 159-7, skipper Robert Johnson top scoring with 25. The home side were bowled out for 131 with Reuben Roberts taking 4-21.
Appleton 2nd home game with Neston was a complete washout and Appleton 3rd lost by 50 runs to Marple in another rain affected game.
Harry Sygrove took 4-25 for Appleton as Marple hit 182. Aplleton, chasing a revised target of 100 due the weather replied with 55-5 – Sygrove hitting 23 and Paul White 21 not out.
Appleton 4th lost heavily at Upton in another rain affected game.
Glazebury’s home game was washed out and the 2nd XI went down by 85 runs at Europa Mere.
