ALMOST £1 Million is going to be invested in Cardinal Newman Catholic High School to support special educational needs and disabilities students (SEND).

At Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet meeting last night, Cllr Sarah Hall announced the latest in a series of investments in local schools.

Since 2021, Warrington has invested more than £680,000 in SEND provision across Warrington’s schools, including both mainstream and special schools. Furthermore, there have been additional investments in the new post-16 Peace Centre provision and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Free School, both with significant investments of £10 million each.
The new investment at Cardinal Newman Catholic High School in Latchford will enable targeted and discreet services to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, allowing students to remain in a mainstream setting while also receiving the additional support they need.

Cllr Hall, Cabinet member for Children’s Services said: “This is more than an investment in our schools; it’s an investment in our children’s future.
“A good education makes all the difference to our young people, and I’m proud of our commitment to all of Warrington’s young people.
“Ensuring that children who have additional needs are properly supported is important to me.
“Our investments in Warrington’s schools mean we can provide specialist, targeted, and discreet support for children with additional needs.
“Working with the fantastic Cardinal Newman, Warrington Borough Council is leading the way in providing vital and life-changing services for children.
“Teachers and support staff continue to provide excellent and outstanding educational outcomes for our young people, despite decades of Conservative underfunding.
“Giving our children the best start to life is non-negotiable, and I will do everything I can to support them.”
