Grappers draw after rain brings match to an end

GRAPPENHALL’S game at fellow Cheshire County League premier division strugglers Toft ended in a draw after rain brought proceedings to a close.

But they got the lion’s share of the points after batting first and posting an impressive 233-8 declared.
Arav Shetty fell just short of his first century for the club with 94. Kiwi Tom MacRury also got close to his first ton as he fell for 86 and Keiran Lawton chipped in with 43.
Toft were up with the rate all the way until the rain came, with Grappers only managing to claim 1 wicket. With 20 overs still left to play, the game was abandoned with Toft on 109-1
The 10 points Grappers picked up enabled them to just climb out of the relegation zone, level on points with Toft.
Grappenhall 2nd hit 231-9 at home to Widnes, with Steve Rooney hitting a splendid 84 amd Dan Adkins contributed 58.
Widnes got off to a flyer with 76 without loss from 13 overs before the rains came and the game was abandoned.
Grappenhall 3rd put in a superb performance to beat Heaton Mersey in a top of the table clash.
Heaton Mersey posted a par 154-7 off their 40 overs. Grappers cruised home with seven overs to spare for the loss of just 3 wickets thanks to the youthful batting lineup.
Seventeen-year-old James Knowles top scored with 45, 15-year-old Shlok Ramakrishnan hit 41 and 14-year-old Zach Pomfret hit 34, both not out.

Warrington’s home game against Maritime ended in a draw after rain brought play to an end.
The Wirral side batted first and hit 188 despite a good all-round bowling performance from Warrington, led by Umer Zeb, who took 4-55.
Warrington were 54-4 from 15 overs when play was brought to an end. Opener Malcolm Agar was still at the wicket on 21 not out and Thaakier Davids hit 27.
Warrington 2nd lost by 138 runs at Didsbury after the home side had declared on 208-5. Warrington were bowled out for just 70 with Rishek Manta top scoring with 20.
Rain resulted in Warrington 3rd’s home game with Macclesfield being abandoned.
Warrington had hit 169-7. A Vishy top-scoring with 40 not out.
Macclesfield were struggling on 37-5 when play was called off. Shoaib Chattha took all five wickets for 18 runs.
Warrington 4th had a big win against Glazebury 2nd after batting first and hitting 235-3 – Lovey Kang hitting 100 not out and Sukhwant Sandhu hitting 100 before being run out.
Glazebury replied with 60-6 in 23 overs before rain intervened.
Lymm Oughtrington Park lost at Knutsford in another game shortened by rain.
The home side hit 202-9, Antonnel Atwell taking 3-55. Lymm were 130-8, chasing a revised total of 166 when the weather intervened. Atwell was again the star, with a fine innings of 63.
Lymm 2nd also played Knutsford and lost by eight wickets after being bowled out for 49.
Appleton’s home game against Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge was abandoned after Appleton had hit 2202-6. Rory Kellett hit 50 and Adam Pearson 41.
Similarly, Appleton 2nd saw their game called off after they had hit 143-4, John Porter 46 and David Hurst 42, against Chester Boughton Hall.
Appleton 3rd lost by 48 runs at Bowdon Vale and the Appleton 4th game with Maritime was abandoned.
Glazebury lost by 10 wickets at Prestbury after being dismissed for 83 after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
