FIRE crews were called out to reports of a house fire, which turned out to be a deliberate fire in the open outside an empty property at Woolston.

At 17:56 yesterday, Sunday, two fire crews were called out to reports of a house on fire in Weir Lane.

Attending firefighters found that a reported house fire was actually a small fire outside the building. It is believed to have been started deliberately. The crews used a hose reel jet to bring the fire under control and dampen the area down.

Then at 01:16 this morning one crew was called to reports of a fire in the open on Hollins Drive, Winwick.
The fire in the roadway was put out by firefighters using a water backpack. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
