Water shortage
APPLETON Parish Council is concerned at the low level of water in the Lily Pit at the junction of Lumb Brook Road and New Lane, Appleton Thorn. Cllr Brian Smith believes a lack of rainfall may be exacerbated by a farmer occasionally pumping water out.
Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 7, 12, 13 and 14. No-one claimed the jackpot prize which will be rolled-over to next week. A £25 consolation prize was awarded to a member of hospital staff.
Play area
PUPILS from Appleton Thorn Primary School are to attend a meeting of Appleton Parish Council when proposals for a play area in the village is considered.
Summer fair
A SUMMER fair takes place tomorrow (Sunday) at Sacred Heart Primary School. There will be Irish dancing, cheerleading displays and refreshments.
Road-widening objection
A NEIGHBOUR has objected to an application by supermarket Asda Westbrook for permission to widen the access to its petrol station, altering the access to the car park from Westbrook Crescent.
Boot sale
A CAR boot sale is to be held at Gorse Covert Primary School, Birchwood, on Sunday July 24 from 9.30am. Proceeds will go to school funds.
Scout award
CUB leader Jane Kelly has been awarded a badge to mark 20 years’ service to scouting at the annual meeting of the 19th Warrington Scouts at Culcheth.
