Temporary signals removed following traffic chaos

TEMPORARY signals that brought traffic chaos to Stockton Heath over the weekend and during the early morning rush hour traffic today, Monday, causing an outcry from local residents and motorists, have now been removed.

The temporary traffic signals involved a four-way traffic light system at the junction of Orchard Street and London Road, causing lengthy queues on London Road and surrounding streets.

They were put in place while Scottish Power carried out work on a cable fault on London Road.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “Scottish Power are working on a cable fault on London Road. An inspector has visited the site today and arranged for the signals to be removed as the location of the works were on Orchard Street and not London Road. The works should be completed later today.”

While the traffic signals have now gone, some barriers remain on the pavement, although the pavement is also open.
