Funeral details of Josephine “Josie” Butterworth

THE funeral of well known former Warrington Market trader Josephine “Josie” Butterworth will take place at Walton Crematorium on Friday July 14 at 2.40 pm.

Instead of flowers the family is inviting donations to the Joshua Tree Foundation, a charity set up to suport families involved in the care of a child with cancer.

Working on Warrington Market almost all her life, retiring aged 83, Josie died recently aged 88, after a short illness.

She had worked at the family business on Warrington Market selling bedding and linen since the age of 21, with late husband Michael, also selling carpets from another stall. She retired when the market closed for re-development and was givent he honour of officially opening the new temporary market.
Butterworth’s was one of the oldest stalls remaining on the former market, originally opening in September 1934.
She lived at Appleton until recently when she moved into the Belong Village.
