Glazebury Gala maintains tradition

0

THE annual Glazebury Gala maintained a tradition that dates back to 1928 when local schoolgirl Jenny Cleworth was crowned Gala Queen.
Jenny (pictured left) was crowned at All Saints Church by Dorothy and Allan Graham. Retiring Queen was Bethan McDermott.
Following the crowning Jenny walked to the nearby school grounds where a gala continued for the rest of the day.
There were a number of fund-raising stalls such as tombola, lucky dip, flowers, fruit and vegetables, etc. as well as a fun fair with rides suitable for younger children.
The day raises funds for Glazebury Church, Glazebury Primary School, Scouts and other local community groups.
