Disappointing Grappers drop into relegation zone

GRAPPENHALL dropped into the Cheshire County League premier division relegation zone after a disappointing performance at home to Nantwich.

Albert Pennington, 36 and Tom McRury, 34, batted well but fell just when they appeared to getting settled and Grappers ended up with a below par 151 all out.
But worse was to come after tea when the bowlers failed to cause the home side’s batsmen much trouble and Nantwich took the honours with with 152-2.
It was the first time Grappers had dropped into the relegation zone after a promising start to the season.
Grappenhall 2nd lost by 68 runs at Alderley Edge.
The home side hit 210-7 with Grappers’ bowlers sharing the wickets. But the batsmen could only muster 142, with Steve Rooney and Ross Arrowsmith top-scoring with 27 each.
Grappenhall 3rd provided some cheer with a nine wicket victory over Cheadle at Broad Lane.
The visitors were dismissed for 91 in the 35th over, Stanley Pennington taking 4-11. Then Grappenhall hit off the runs for the loss of one wicket, with Pennington again on form with 54 not out.

Warrington went down by a humiliating 137 runs visiting Ashley.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first, hitting a challenging 288-7 in 50 overs.
Warrington used seven bowlers in the heat, but to little avail. No individual took more than two wickets.
After tea, Warrington relied heavily on Patrick Tyrrell, 41 and Thaakier Davids, 54, as only one other batsman reached double figures. They were all out for 151 in the 36th over.
Warrington 2nd lost by four wickets at home to Hale Barns.
Put in first, they were bowled out for 178. Jagadeesha Jagadeesha toop-scored with 63.
Jonjo Fagan-Hall took 3-38 when the visitors batted, but Hale Barns reached their target for the loss of six wickets.
Warrington 3rd lost by two wickets in a competitive game at Timperley.
Batting first, they hit 214-9. Les Connolly top-scoring with 52 and Bilawal Khan hitting 34.
Timperley lost wickets at regular intervals when they replied and the game was in the balance almost until the end. Khan took 3-68 and most of the bowlers contributed but the hosts reached their target for the loss of eight wickets.
Warrington 4th lost by 149 at home to Europa Mere who batted first and h it 268-4. Warrington were bowled out for 119.
Lymm Oughtrington Park won by 39 runs, hosting Chester County Officers.
Asked to bat first, they hit 154, with skipper Shovan Chatterjee hitting an unbeaten 44.
The visitors lost wickets regularly and never looked likely to control the game. They were dismissed for 115 in the 31st over. Anthony Spaven, 3-40, was the pick of the bowlers.
Lymm 2nd lost by 79 runs at North East Cheshire, who batted first and hit 197-8. Avanish Pandey took 4-21.
A number of Lymm batsmen looked set to play match-winning innings but then fell and the side was all out for 118.
Lymm 3rd lost by five wickets to visitors’ Davenham.
Batting first, they hit 164-6, with Phil Norris top-scoring with 48. Davenham had little trouble knocking off the runs.

Appleton travelled to Winsford and lost by 74 runs.
The home side hit 138-6, Adam Peters taking 3-14. Appleton were then rolled over for 66 with Liam Mannion hitting 26 of them.
Appleton 2nd won a competitive game at home to Wirral, who batted first and hit 199-7. Appleton replied with 201-6 in 40 overs.
Appleton 3rd were bowled out for 111 at home to Cheadle Hulme, despite operer Paul White’s 48.
The visitors lost seven wickets reaching their target. Oliver Cross took 3-20.
Appleton 4th lost by nine wickets at Alvanley and being dismissed for 129.
Glazebury lost by 144 runs at home to Aston, who batted first and hit 268-7, Dave Nicholson taking 4-68. Glazebury were all out for 124 in the 37th over.
Glazebury 2nd lost by 10 wickets at Ashley after being dismissed for 112, Nirpal Bansal hitting 32.
