Fire breaks out after two-vehicle crash on M6 northbound

FIRE crews from Warrington and Lymm were called to a two-vehicle crash on the M6 north-bound carriageway early this morning.

The incident resulted in lengthy delayhs on the M6 near Warrington, impacting local rush hour traffic in the south of the town.

One of the vehicles, a lorry, burst into flames and was well alight by the time firefighters reached the scene near Over Tabley.
A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the blaze and part of the motorway was closed off while the incident was dealt with.

The occupants of both vehicles had managed to get out by the time emergency services – which also included police and ambulance – had reached the scene, between junctions 19 and 20.
But there were no reports of serious injuries.
The incident was shortly before 8am.
