Police issue warning after reports of dog left in car on hot day

POLICE have issued a warning following a report a dog was left inside a car with only a crack left in the window for air on a local car park during the hot weather.

By the time officers from Hatton, Walton and Stretton Police attended the car and dog had left the scene.
Issuing a warning to dog owners they said: “Leaving just a small crack in a car window isn’t enough to keep a car cool for a dog. Had the car been at the location then we would have the right to force the car open to remove the dog- at the owner’s expense.
“If you take your dog out in the car, take it with your destination, if you cannot do this, leave them at home.
“If you find a dog left in a car and you feel it is in distress, please call 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
