A WARRINGTON woman has been jailed for eight years for killing her partner.
Jayne Emma Moore, 36, (right) of Bevin Avenue, Culcheth, was convicted of manslaughter at Chester Crown Court.
She had been in a stormy relation with Robert O’Raw, 50, (below, left) for about 18 months and had denied a charge of murder.
Mr O’Raw, 50, died after being stabbed at his home on Bruche Heath Gardens, Padgate, Warrington on Sunday, December 19 last year.
The court heard the pair had been in the Stocks pub at Padgate on the night of the tragedy.
Witnesses describe the couple as verbally abusive towards each other at the pub, where they had spent most of the day drinking before leaving at around 10.20pm.
They went to Mr O’Raw’s flat and were seen arguing as they went inside.
At 10.57 pm ambulance control received a 999 call from Moore stating she had stabbed her partner.
Police went to the flat and found the door ajar and Moore crying in the kitchen with Mr O’Raw’s body lying on the floor.
She was arrested and he was taken to Warrington Hospital where he died a short time later as a result of the stab wound to his chest.
Detective Inspector Nigel Wenham from Cheshire Police Major Incident Team said: “Choosing to arm yourself with a knife can have fatal consequences as we have seen in this case and Moore will have a long time behind bars to reflect on her actions.
“My thoughts at this time are for the family of Robert and I hope the conclusion of the case helps them begin to move on from what happened.”
A statement was issued by the O’Raw family which said: “Rob leaves behinds three children, two sons and a daughter as well as three brothers and two sisters.
“Rob will be sadly missed by his family and friends and we are all still to this day deeply shocked and saddened by his death.
“Today Jayne Moore has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Rob. We are satisfied with the verdict. She has been rightly held accountable for her actions for causing the death of Rob.
“We would also like to acknowledge and thank all the witnesses who assisted the police and gave evidence during the trial.
“Jayne Moore will now spend many years of her life in prison, paying for what she did to Rob by violently taking away his life. This verdict provides us with a degree of closure and we can now move forward with our lives, but we will always remember Rob, may he rest in peace.”
