A COUNCIL chief at Warrington has been out with the town’s bin men to get an insight into the challenges they face every day.
Cllr David Keane, the new executive member for environment and public protection, experienced a day in the life of the bin men.
He undertook the work as part of a review of the council’s overall waste strategy and to get an insight into the challenges faced by the refuse collection team.
Cllr Keane pitched in by helping out throughout the day as the team went on their rounds, emptying rubbish bins and travelling to the tip.
He saw first hand some of the issues the team have to deal with on a daily basis and the hard work they put in.
He said: “It was a real eye opener for me to have this first hand experience of the work our waste collection teams do.
“I was very impressed with our bin men who do a difficult job very well. I was particularly taken by their good humour and common sense approach to getting the job done; they really are a credit to our town.
“Warrington’s refuse collection service is really excellent and this is something we as a council are committed to maintaining.”
