LGBT support group planned

MEMBERS of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community at Warrington are invited to an event to discuss ways the borough council and other public service organisations can best engage with them, and use their feedback to inform service developments and improvements.
The event is at the Gateway, on Sankey Street, on Thursday, July 7 from 6-8.30pm.
Its aim is to obtain people’s views about the potential for setting up a new support group for LGBT adults.
There will be a local band, food and refreshments available and friends and family are also welcome.
Local services will be providing information stalls and it is hoped that those attending will share their views about the delivery of local public services.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture said: “I would urge people in the LGBT community to attend this event and make their voices heard. The council is doing everything in its power to iradicate the very real problem of hate crime, and this is one of the ways you can make your views known.”
