Green Belt home plan approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the green light to proposals to convert a garage into a dwelling on Green Belt land – despite opposition

Deputy leader of the borough council Cllr Cathy Mitchell was among those objecting to the scheme at Boarded Barn Farm, Burtonwood.

Six nearby residents also lodged objections on the grounds of loss of privacy, highway safety issues and the impact of proposed fencing on the openness of the Green Belt.
But council officers recommended the scheme in Fir Tree Lane should be approved.

They said the scheme would result in one additional residential unit in an established residential site and would have no unacceptable impact on visual or residential amenity or the local highway network.
The wider site was already in residential use, with four residential units in a converted former farm building.
The borough’s development management committee approved the scheme.
