Modern Millie packs them in

A MUSICAL set in 1920s New York was performed to “packed houses” over three nights by students from Priestley College, Warrington.
The Performing Arts students turned “Thoroughly Modern Millie” into their latest blockbusting show. The show was the farewell piece for the class of 2011 – many are moving on to specialist theatre schools around the country.
The story is based on the rise of the “modern woman” at a time of prohibition and illegal alcohol sales. The title character Millie is determined to take charge of her future.
During her journey, Millie played by Georgia Frost-Titchmarsh, meets a range of colourful characters, including Jimmy Smith (Jordan Carr), Mrs Meers (Hayley Reid), Dorothy Brown (Genevieve Brown), Trevor Graydon (Mike Hesketh) and Muzzy Van Hossmere (Lauren Myers), in a performance packed full of intrigue and suspense.
Abbie Rippon, who led the direction and technical production, said: “Once again our students excelled themselves with this latest piece of creative musical theatre, which gave a final indication of just how they have developed during their time at Priestley.
“We now wish all our leavers the very best for the future, under the firm opinion, that they all have the potential to realise their dreams at university and in the outside world.”
