Two fire engines called to garage blaze

TWO fire engines were called to a blaze involving a private garage at a house in West Avenue, Warrington, last night.
The crews from Penketh and Lymm wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. A covering jet was also used and a ventilation unit then employed to clear some from the building. A thermal imaging camera was used too check for further hotspots.
The police also attended the incident but the fire is believed to have started as a result of an accident There were no reports of injuries.
Around the same time, a fire crew from Birchwood went to a wheelie bin fire in Shaw Street, Warrington and extinguished the flames before serious damage was caused.
An earlier bin fire in Longford Street, Warrington was tackled by firefighters from Warrington and Birchwood. Police were informed as it was believed to be arson.
