Village should celebrate – councillor

CELEBRATIONS to mark the Royal Wedding were “low key” at Stockton Heath – and next year the village should make amends when the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is celebrated.
This is the view of parish councillor Graham Roughsedge, who was disappointed the village did not celebrate the wedding as a community.
He said: “All the shops have Union Flags that they put out for the annual Walking Day -they could have put these out for the wedding.”
Cllr Roughsedge says the parish council’s Village Committee should start looking how the Diamond Jubilee could be celebrated in June next year.
Clerk Peter Briggs has reminded members that at the time of the Golden Jubilee they arranged for every child in the village to be presented with a gold coin.

  1. I agree with Cllr R. We were suprised that only two shops in Stockton Heath seemed to show any interest. One was the childrens charity shop on london road and the other was the carpet shop/clay cafe in west avenue. Plenty of street parties away from the village centre shops going on though 🙂 What’s this gold coin though… my son never got one. Not to worry.
