Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 1, 4, 9 and 15 – but no-one claimed the jackpot prize. A £25 consolation prize was awarded to a member of hospital staff.

Extension approved
PLANS to remove a conservatory and scullery at a house in Albert Road, Grappenhall, to make way for a single storey side and rear extension have been approved by Warrington planning chiefs.

Smoking shelter
A SMOKING shelter is to be built at Eagle Sports Club, Thornton Road, Great Sankey following the granting of planning consent by borough planners.

Bawming the Thorn
THE annual Bawming the Thorn ceremony takes place at Appleton Thorn, near Warrington today (Saturday). School children will dance around the decorated thorn tree in the village centre.

Rose Queen
CLAIRE Berry, aged 14, will be crowned Thelwall Rose Queen today (Saturday) – 16 years after her mother, Lorraine was crowned. It is believed to be the first time a mother and daughter have both had the honour.

Gardens walk
PARK rangers will lead a three mile walk around Warrington’s Walton Gardens on Monday, starting from the car park at 1pm.
