First win of the season for Warrington

WARRINGTON picked up their first win of the season in the Cheshire County Cricket League with a 61-run victory at Oakmere.

Batting first, they hit 223-9, James Lewis top scoring with 51, Asmir Ali 36 and Zeb 28.
The hosts started well in reply, putting on 41 for the first wicket. But then Zeb, 3-46, Ashley Scholes, 2-26, and Thackier Davids, 2-26 got among the wickets to bowl the side out for 162.
Warrington 2nd lost by 145 in a disappointing performance against Cheadle Hulme at Walton Lea.

The visitors hit 226-7 after being put in. Phil Whelan with 3-63 was the pick of the bowlers and Jonjo Fagan-Hall took 2-33.
Warrington were tumbled out for 81, Warrington 3rd had a big win at Stockport Trinity after hitting 207-7.
Abdul Javed hit 79 and Daksh Sood 76 not out.
The home side were dismissed for 61 chasing a revised target of 98 due to rain.
Grappenhall drew their game at Brooklands after bowling the hosts out for 248.
Pick of the bowlers was Kiwi Tom MacRury with 5-78.

Grappers lost wickets at regular intervals chasing the challenging total but held on for the draw at 180-9.
Grappenhall 2nd won by one wicket at home to Heaton Mersey.
The visitors were bowled out for 126, Tom Bramhall taking 4-27. Grappers then took the honours with 127-nine in a nail-biting finish. Tom Higham top-scored with 25 and Lloyd Milligan was there at the close on 23 not out.
Grappenhall 3rd started their league campaign with a win at home, also to Heaton Mersey. Mersey struggled to post just 130 – 7 off their 40 overs, Grappers newbie Sam Riordan picking up three wickets.
Grappenhall’s innings got off to the worst possible start as they were quickly reduced to 24-4. But youngsters Lucas Reid and Shlok Ramakrishnan put on a superb partnership of 84 to get Grappers back into control, with 45 and 37 runs respectively. Grappers ended up winning the game by three wickets with four overs to spare.
In the Cheshire League, Appleton travelled to Holmes Chapel and inflicted a humiliating defeat on their hosts.
Asked to bat first, Appleton were dismissed for a modest 120, largely due to 53 from Ali Sharif, although Martin Cooper contributed a useful 24.
Then the weather intervened and Appleton’s bowlers demolished the home side for 27, Adam Peters, Moshin Rafique taking three wickets each as the batsmen chased a revised target of 79 from 20 overs.
Appleton 2nd won by 43 runs hosting Old Parkonians.
Put in first Appleton totalled 121-6, Nick Williams top scoring with 44 not out. Parkonians were dismissed for 78 with no less than seven batsmen failing to score.
Doing the damage were Phil Jackson, 5-19, Dave Sujith, 3-30 andM Mir, 2-0.
Appleton 3rd won by one wicket after restricting Lindow to 147-6, Oliver Cross 3-23.
Cross followed this up with 37 and Mark Sands hit 32 as Appleton replied with 149-9.
Appleton 4th went down by 10 wickets at Barnton after bein g held to 104-9, Becca Othick 24.
L:ymm Oughtrington Park defeated Middlewich by two wickets in a rain-affected game at Oughtrington Lane and Lymm 2nd XI’s game at Middlewich was abandoned after Lymm had hit 95 all out, Harsh Saraf 44.
Glazebury lost by 21 runs hosting Kerridge, who batted first and were bowled out for 120. Jack Whitehead took 5-13 and Campbell Thomson 3-31.
Thomson top-scored with 39 as Glazebury were back in the pavilion for 99.
Glazebury 2nd went down by five wickets at Marple after being dismissed for 87, James Haseldine 25, Seth Barnes 20.
