THE complex recovery of a broken-down HGV caused lengthy delays on the M6 at Warrington yesterday evening.

Lanes 3 and 4 (of 4) were closed on the M6 northbound between J20 (M56) and J21 (Warrington) due to a broken-down tanker

At one point there was over six miles of congestion on approach causing delays of an hour on normal travel time.

The vehicle has since been recovered and all lanes opened.
