AFTER “11 long distressing weeks” Ougtrington Community Centre will at long last, re-open its doors tomorrow, Thursday, to the local luncheon club which was locked out following a fall out between trustees and volunteers.

It follows Trustees voting to re-open the Oughtrington Luncheon Club as soon as possible following a meeting at the local community centre last Wednesday evening, co-ordinated by Lymm Parish Council.

Trustees reversed their decision to close down the luncheon club and asked brother and sister Derek Ridpath and Phyllis Greenough to step back into their volunteer roles as joint organisers of Oughtrington Luncheon Club.

Derek, who stood down along with his sister Phyllis Greenough said:” All the volunteers involved in the running of Oughtrington Luncheon Club are delighted to be able to welcome clients back into their home at Oughtrington Community Centre.
“We are looking forward to working with the, soon to be established, new management of the Community Centre to ensure a secure future, building on the experience of the last 38 years.”

Thanking everybody who supported the campaign to achieve the re-opening a special event is taking place tomorrow.
In an invitation to those who helped Derek said: “After 11 long distressing weeks, Clients and Volunteers will be back in the community centre for an ‘open day’ before we restart our normal operations on Tuesday 2nd May.
“We would like to invite everyone who offered support over the weeks to pop in for a drink and snack between the hours of 10:30am and 1:30pm. We can update you on the current position and plans for the future.
“Also if anyone has a family member, friend, neighbour or just knows someone who might benefit from attending Oughtrington Luncheon Club you are also invited to call in to find out more about us, what we do and how we can help.
“Equally if you are interested in becoming a volunteer and want to know more pop in and see us.”
