Richy looks for helping hand of God!

WARRINGTON Town director Richy Sutton is hoping his prayers will be answered for the forthcoming football season – by embarking on a marathon fund-raising mission for his local church!

The 42-year-old father of three is taking on a personal challenge of completing his first ever Triathlon to raise much needed funds for the restoration of the church roof at St Oswalds Church, Winwick – and he hopes his marathon effort will help bring good fortune to his beloved Warrington Town football club in the forthcoming season.

“One good turn deserves another,” said Richy, who has been investing time and energy into helping transform the fortunes of the town’s football team where he is Chief Executive.

The iconic landmark St Odwald’s church building is seriously under threat following an infestation of Death watch beetle, which has severely damaged the roof and could threaten the future of the church, which needs to find £200,000 to completely refurbish the roof and ensure that the building is returned to its former glory.

Richy said: “Since moving to Winwick recently I have been deeply touched by the efforts of many of the parishioners in their efforts to save the church. Indeed I was recently married in the adjoining Chancel which is the only part of the church now in operation and I feel passionately, as a proud citizen of Warrington, that it would be a crime to see this church closing its doors for good.

“So a call to arms this most certainly is and I hope people can spare a few pounds to sponsor me on my first Triathlon attempt!
The triathlon at Cholmondeley Castle on Sunday June 19 will involve Richy completing an 800 metre swim across the lake followed by a 44km bike rideand then an 8 km road run to the finish line.
