LATCHFORD Albion returned to winning ways with a hard fought 34-18 victory over a spirited Hindley side.
Coach Martyn Ellis was understandably happy and said: “Our combinations were good today. Over the last couple of games we haven’t been consistent and had spells where we have lost focus, but today, apart the the first 10 minutes, we controlled and managed the game as I asked them to.”
The visitors were dangerous early on and raced into an early lead, but Albion responded with tries by Rob Marsh (pictured) and Ben Harper, both converted by Marsh.
When second row Dec Rourke crossed on the half hour mark, Latchford took the lead for the first time, and at half time the hosts held an 18-12 advantage.
The first score of the second half was crucial, and fortunately this came Albion’s way when Marsh added his second try of the afternoon to open up a two score lead.
Credit to Hindley who never gave up, and a third converted try on 55 minutes saw them reduce the deficit to six points.
This spurred the hosts and tries from Ben Harper and Reece Hughes both converted by Marsh, saw Latchford come out worthy Winners.
This Saturday Latchford take a break from their league campaign when they host Wigan Spring View in the NWML Challenge Cup, kick off 2.30pm
