Wolves trio agree new contracts

WARRINGTON Wolves’ England Internationals Garreth Carvell and Chris Bridge together with forward David Solomona have all agreed new contracts with the club.
Carvell, who had recently been linked with a move to the NRL, is currently in his third season at Warrington having joined from Hull FC back in 2009, and has signed a two-year extension to his contract to keep him in Warrington colours until November 2013.
Bridge has agreed an additional three-years to his existing contract keeping him at the club until November 2015.
Second-row Solomona joined the Wolves pack last year from Super League opponents Bradford Bulls and he has agreed a further year on his contract to keep him at Warrington until November 2012.
Head of Coaching and Rugby Tony Smith reflects on each individual player. “We’re very happy that David has extended for another year. Sol has been playing very good rugby for us in recent times. He started the season well, had a little dip in form but has now come back to some of his best and he’s working really hard in a lot of areas. He is one of those very unique players who can do things in a game that not many other people can do and we feel, and he feels, he can do another year. I believe he can do a great job for us and am delighted for him to stay as he plays a big role for us on and off the field.
“Garreth has been in terrific form which has been recognised in his call-up to the England squad. He’s worked hard for that but I think he’s working hard for Warrington first and foremost, and understands that by playing well for Warrington there are other benefits like representing your country. He’s known as an attacking playing but his defence has been in great form for a number of weeks now which is an area he’s worked really hard on.
“This contract extension gives Chris a bit of security knowing he’s a Wolves player now for a number of years. He has really matured as a player and a person, and has become a father. He’s also one of the elite players within the England set-up and is a high quality centre. He has versatility and is a player that I thoroughly enjoy coaching and am delighted that he’s staying.”
Tony added: “It is great that we are keeping continuity and stability in our ranks. We want to keep our players when they are playing well and all the guys who have had their contracts extended are playing well. This is a healthy state for the club to be in, with players wanting to stay, which all bodes well for our future.”
