Heart checks for rugby fans

FANS attending the Warrington Wolves match against Salford Reds at the Halliwell Jones on Sunday will be able to have their pulse checked to ensure their heart rhythm is all right.
A team of volunteers, including nurses and GPs, will carry out the checks to mark Heart Rhythm Week. From 1.30pm they will be doing pulse checks, taking blood pressures and offering advice about arrhythmia.
Health chiefs say that Sudden Cardiac Arrest can affect anyone, no matter their age or fitness level and can be detected early before it becomes a problem by a simple pulse check. Other heart rhythm problems can also be detected this way.
At half time the cheerleaders will be sporting t-shirts from three charities, Arrhythmia Alliance, Atrial Fibrillation Association and the Stroke Association to highlight the campaign to include pulse checks into routine GP care.
