IT was all change at the top for the coming year as Warrington Conservative Federation appointed a new Chairman as they prepare for the elections in 2024.

Councillor Wendy Maisey, OBE stood down as Chair and was elected as President. Theo Mirfin, former Deputy Chair Political, was duly elected as Chairman.

Wendy commented: “I was delighted to be elected and given the mandate to lead Warrington Conservatives in March 2020. I’m thrilled at the progress that has been made during my term in office, aided by much hard work from Officers past and present and guidance from Paul Campbell our past Chair.
“We have, as a team, done exactly what is expected of senior Party volunteers. We’ve won elections, increased local membership, and fundraised. We have also become the Opposition at the Town Hall.
“I’m confident that with Theo’s campaign experience and expertise we will continue to beat Labour in the North of our town and the Lib Dems South of the ship canal”.
“We have some incredible talent coming through the grassroots in Warrington and the diversity of Officers from different backgrounds and cultures speaks for itself. We believe in electing the right person with the relevant experience for the role, and don’t get sidetracked by quotas like other Political Parties.”

Theo added “I’m honoured to be elected as Warrington Conservatives’ first Chairman of Indian Hindu heritage. We’ve already put a plan into place and are ready to hit the ground running in Warrington. Our town deserves better, and we’ll work hard to represent each and every resident”.

Wendy was elected as the first female Chair of Warrington Conservatives on International Women’s Day in March 2020 and stood down after her three-year term last week. She is currently also an Officer of Cheshire & Wirral Area Management Team who oversee 15 Constituencies throughout the geographic area.
