Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 3, 8, 13 and 15 – but the jackpot prize went unclaimed. A £25 consolation prize went to a member of hospital staff.

Signs approved
PLANS for six signs – three illuminated – at the Homebase store, on the Riverside Retail Park, Warrington, have been approved by borough council planning chiefs.

Craft fair
A CRAFT fair to raise money for children affected by radiation following the Chernobyl disaster is to be held at Whittle Hall Community Centre, Warrington today (Saturday). It starts at 11am and continues until 3pm with a variety of stalls selling goods made by local craftworkers.

New chairman
EX-councillor Maureen Banner, a former member of the board of Warrington Borough Transport, has been appointed as its first-ever woman chairman, replacing Cllr Les Hoyle, who remains a member of the board..

PLANS for four 12m high poles to house security cameras at Risley Prison, in Warrington Road, Risley, have been approved by borough council planning chiefs.

New for old
DEMOLITION of former school buildings, including Massey Hall, in Halfacre Lane, Thelwall, to make way for replacement buildings, have been given the green light by Warrington planning chiefs.
