FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire in the basement of a town centre newsagents’ shop at Warrington.
The blaze was at Martin’s newsagents at Market Gate and is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and tackled the fire with dry powder extinguishers. There was no serious damage to the shop premises above.
Firefighters were also called to the Trigger Pond public house in Lingley Green Avenue, Great Sankey where a fire broke out in an industrial skip. It was put out with hand-held extinguishers.
Crews from Stockton Heath also dealt with a blaze involving a light goods vehicle on the M6 northbound carriageway, between junctions 20 and 21.
