Police asked to investigate after fire started at side of canal

POLICE have been informed following a deliberate fire alongside the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal at Latchford, Warrington, earlier today, Monday.

At 15:35 one crew from Warrington was called to Clearwater Quays, Warrington following reports of a fire along the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Due to the fire being believed to have been started deliberately, police were also informed.

Earlier in the day one crew from Warrington was also called out to reports of a fire in a garden on Ullswater Avenue, Orford.
The small fire in a garden was extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel jet.
