A WARRINGTON woman who falsely claimed more than £26,000 in benefit has bee given a six month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months – and ordered to repay the money.
Susan Billing, 55, of Duxford Court, Padgate admitted failing to notify the borough council that her husband had moved in with her in 2003 and that he was in full time employment when she appeared at Warrington Crown Court.
As a result she was overpaid housing benefit of £21,538 and council tax enefit of £4,897 between January 2003 and September 2009.
The court ordered that she observe a two month curfew between the houses of 8pm and 7am.
After the hearing, Adrian Webster, the council’s benefits manager, said: “Deliberately withholding information that affects your claim is stealing. That’s why we are targeting benefit thieves. We’re closing in on benefit thieves with every means at our disposal.”

Do you have a fraud stoppers number??? m sure you would get more false claims reported.
The thieveing tart should have been jailed for 12 months and then made to pay back the money…… She has basically got an interest free loan from us the taxpayer for 7 years!
