Wolves rising star out for season!

WARRINGTON Wolves rising star Gareth O’Brien could be out for the rest of the season after being stretchered off during the record breaking 112-0 Challenge Cup victory over Swinton Lions.
Although the club are still awaiting the results of scans on his knee injury, Head of Coaching Tony Smith fears the worst and suspects cruciate ligament damage.
“We are still awaiting for the swelling in the knee to reduce and for the results of scans but it looks like cruciate ligament damage,” said Smith.
O’Brien had impressed in the absence of Richie Myler, featuring in the two previous victories over Castleford Tigers and Keighley Cougars.
By coincidence Myler is set to return to action at Leeds on Friday night and Smith admits O’Brien’s injury has saved him a selection headache.
“It would have been a tough decision to make as Gareth has deserved his place in the team,” said Smith, who fears that the youngster will not be back in the frame until the start of next season, following surgery and a lengthy recuperation.
“We feel for Gareth but I am sure he has a great future and he will come back bigger and stronger from this injury,” he added.
A full video interview with Tony Smith will be updated later bringing all the latest news from the Halliwell Jones along with an interview with Centre Ryan Atkins who fancies a league and cup double – but if he had to choose would relish a Grand Final at Old Trafford.
Squad for Leeds:
Ryan Atkins Matty Blythe Chris Bridge Lee Briers Garreth Carvell Jon Clarke Mike Cooper Simon Grix Mickey Higham Brett Hodgson Matt King Joel Monaghan Michael Monaghan Adrian Morley Richie Myler David Solomona Ben Westwood Rhys Williams Paul Wood
