FIREFIGHTERS were called out to put out a bonfire at Orford, Warrington, due to its close proximity to houses and outbuildings.

Shortly after 2pm, yesterday, Saturday, one crew was called out to reports of a fire on Tennyson Drive, Orford.

Crews attended reports of a fire burning close to domestic outbuildings and on arrival found it to be a controlled bonfire. They extinguished it using a hose reel water jet as a precaution, due to its proximity to houses. A thermal imaging camera and gas monitors were used to check it had not spread to an outbuilding.
