IT was party time at the monthly meeting of Croft WI when members came together to celebrate its 70th birthday.
Selina Prescott, chairman of the Cheshire Federation of WI’s, attended the meeting and committee members served Prosecco and homemade cakes for members to enjoy.
Entertainment was provided by Magaly Flores, a qualified art teacher in Mexico, specialising in contemporary dance and education and, after gaining a degree in Education at Edgehill University a Spanish and Dance teacher in the UK. She is also the creative director of Colibri Mexican Folkdance UK an established dance company of native Mexicans showcasing traditional Mexican dance throughout the north west of England and beyond.
Being married to an Englishman, Magaly has lived in the UK for 30 years and her main aim as an artistic director is to educate Mexicans living in the UK to know and feel proud of their traditions and language and she was awarded by the Mexican Government in 2021 for promoting Mexican culture overseas.
She gave an interesting talk about her home country and the many celebrations and rituals held throughout the year.
