MP's walk in the park for charity

WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat joined a sponsored walk through Sankey Valley Park in aid of the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.
The walk was organised by Leigh Brabin, whose son Lewis recently had an operation to correct a cleft palate.
Between one in 8,000 and one in 30,000 children are born with a cleft lip or palate every year.
During pregnancy, different parts of the foetus’ face form and grow at different times. Normally these parts will eventually grow together and unite, but sometimes they do not unite properly and this causes a cleft palate.
As well as causing facial disfigurement, the condition can also lead to breathing problems.
Mr Mowat said: “I’m delighted to be able to support the work of the Cleft Lip and Palate Association in the excellent work that they do and I congratulate Mr and Mrs Brabin for the hard work they have put into organising this event.”
