Anglers asked to help injured heroes

LOCAL anglers are being asked to cast their lines in a “Fish-a-thon” to raise cash for injured military personnel.
The event – one of 12 taking place across the country – is at Patridge Lakes, Glaziers Lane, Culcheth on June 24.
It is being organized in aid of The British Limbless Ex Service Men’s Association (BLESMA) – the charity which supports service men and women who lose limbs or eyes or the use of limbs or eyes while serving their country.
Part of the entry fee of every angler entering will be donated to BLESMA.
People who want to support the charity but don’t fish can do so by Warrant Officers Mat Lambeth and Jack Horner a penny for every pound of fish they catch throughout the series by logging on to http://www.justgiving.com/Penny-A-Pound-Fish-A-Thon.
Anyone who wants to take part in the Fish-a-Thon should contact the fishery or WO2 Mat Lambeth on 07795 061729.
He said: “Tackle manufacturers and dealers have been very generous in donating prizes and we will be having both a national raffle and raffles at each of the individual events to support BLESMA.”
