Angela aims to help the deaf

A WARRINGTON woman – whose mother suffers from deafness – hopes to help others who with the condition in the North West.
Angela Burrows, 45, (pictured) of Stockton Heath, has been appointed fundraising manager for the North West’s Deafness Support Network (DSN).
She will develop all areas of fundraising for the charity and help develop support and services for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people across the region.
DSN, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, operates communication and volunteer services from its branch in Wilson Patten Street, Warrington.
Angela, who has previously worked for the Big Lottery Fund and a social housing project in Manchester, has her own personal experience of deafness. Her 78-year-old mother suffers from age-related deafness.
“My mum is 75 per cent deaf in both ears so I have understanding of people who have hearing loss,” said Angela,
“I’m really looking forward to helping bring DSN into the spotlight and get that much needed fundraising support.”
As part of her role Angela will learn British Sign Language, will be helping with funding bids, organising events and raising awareness of deafness.
