POLICE have confirmed door-to-door collections are taking place in the Appleton area of Warrington by representatives from the Battersea Dogs Home following concerns raised by members of the public – but are warning people to check for ID.
It follows on from reports last month from bogus collectors door knocking in other areas of Warrington.
Police at Appleton say they have recently seen an increase in reports of charity collectors from Battersea Dogs Home door-to-door fundraising. Concerns have been raised about the collections taking place after dark and after 7pm.
After having made contact with Battersea the charity has confirmed that they ARE collecting in the WA4 area throughout March. All charity collectors should display photo ID.
