Labour to fight on in villages

LABOUR’S unsuccessful candidate for Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft in the borough council elections has vowed that his party will fight on.
Chris Vobe (pictured) says the poll demonstrated a stronger than usual showing for Labour in the villages, as they increased from a 29.7 per cent share of the vote in 2010 to 39.7 per cent this year.
He said: “The Labour Party are delighted by a 10 per cent increase in our share of the vote this year. For the second year running, the Tories failed to take 50 per cent of the votes cast.
“As the Coalition’s programme of cuts hits our villages harder each week, more and more people are turning to Labour.
“I know that Labour has more work to do to earn the trust of people in Culcheth, but we will work for that trust. We will continue to be on the side of the residents, and we will fight for each of you.
“We will be a responsible opposition to the Tories in this ward, both pro-active and positive in our determination to build a better future for the villages.”

  1. Why does a failure get so much publicity, have you lost his mother’s picture? What he doesn’t mention is the fact that 2000 less people actually voted this year mainly dispirited Lib Dem voters. Despite his personal attacks on Mrs Bland the Conservative percentage vote increased.

One more failure and he will be begging for a safe Labour seat to kick start his march to Westminster.

  2. Well the way I see it is that if he is going to be proactive in the ward he was unsuccessful in and actually work to getting things done anyway then surely that is a good thing……. two for the price of one 🙂 Party or position means nothing to me as it’s the person who actually get’s of their backside and does things (elected or not) that is important…. so will he do that ? Only time will tell 🙂

  3. Maybe Mr Vobe should set up a business and create jobs and wealth and pay taxes rather than play at politics, as a young man he will have plenty of time to do that later in his life.
