Tik Tok door-kicking craze continues to frighten elderly and vulnerable

THE “Tik Tok” door-kicking craze is continuing to frighten vulnerable and elderly people in the community with police receiving reports of ongoing incidents in the Burtonwood area.

Local police have received reports of youths targeting a door on Chapel Lane, the people they are targeting are elderly and frightened by what is happening.

Local PCSO Tony Spruce said: “The silly craze of kicking people’s front doors seems to have come to Burtonwood. If you see this or know who is involved call 101 and report it.
“This really is unacceptable and it is youths from the village.
“Have a word with your kids before they go out tonight about behaviour and consequences. This will not be tolerated!”

The latest Tik Tok craze, involving youths filming friends kicking doors has been reported in various areas of Warrington.

Meanwhile, following reports that young people are spending several hours a day on the social media platform, Tik Tok has announced today, that anyone aged under 18 will soon be having their screen time limited to one hour a day!

Youngsters will have control to switch off the setting, however. When users who are 18 or younger reach the one-hour time limit, they will be prompted to enter a passcode to activate additional scrolling time — a disruption that TikTok says could prompt them to be more intentional about the time they spend on the paltform.
Meanwhile, children who are aged under 13 will also have a 60-minute limit on daily screen time, although a parent or guardian will have to set or enter a passcode to allow them to watch for an additional 30 minutes.
TikTok’s introduction of children’s time limits follows scrutiny from lawmakers, parent groups and mental health advocates over the app’s role in mental health struggles among teens.
