PUPILS from a Warrington high school scooped a top award for their keen business skills at the area finals of Young Enterprise – an educational organisation which works to develop young people’s business skills
A group of eight Year 12 pupils from Penketh High, who set up a company called Apollo, took the prize for the best trade stand with a DVD and resource pack which addresses the issues around bullying.
ICT teacher John Carlin said: “They were absolutely fantastic on the night and a real credit to the school, I can’t tell you how proud I am of them all.
“Sadly we didn’t win the overall team prize, but it was indicated to our team that we were close to winning.
“Our business, however, was acknowledged by many there as the best and most original idea and everyone were impressed with the issues it is trying to address.
“Representatives from some the schools present have placed orders for our resource pack and a director from the Golden Square Shopping Centre gave the group his number and is keen to launch our resource pack in a new venture they are launching in family products.”
The quality of the delivery of enterprise education at the Heath Road school was also acknowledged as they received the Centre of Excellence award for their outstanding teaching and commitment to enterprise education programmes.
Anyone interested in purchasing the anti-bullying resource pack can do so by contacting the school on 01925 722298.
