Walker free-kick wins it for Warrington Town

DEC Walker’s fine free kick earned Warrington Town a 2-1 win away at Marske United to continue their unbeaten run to 14 games.

Hometown boy Walker curled the ball home from 25 yards out with seven minutes to play to earn the three points, after a controversial equaliser had got lowly Marske back in to the game.

The Yellows had taken the lead through Bohan Dixon’s opener on the half hour mark. Dixon shot low past Oliver Swan after good work by Larnell Cole, who was handed his first start in a Yellows shirt.

Marske equalised seven minutes later, though there was more than a hint of offside in it, as Adam Boyes latched on to Jordan Emery’s ball over the top to fire past Tony Thompson.

But Walker hit an important winner to make it 14 games unbeaten, following back-to-back goalless draws.

Warrington Town welcome Whitby Town to Cantilever Park on Tuesday looking to stretch the run, which dates back to November, even further.

They were beaten 2-1 by Whitby in the reverse fixture back on November 8.
