WARRINGTON Wolves young half back Gareth O’Brien has retained his place in the Warrington squad to take on Castleford Tigers at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night, kick off 8pm.
O’Brien impressed alongside Lee briers in the absence of the injured Richie Myler on the Wolves thrashed Keighley Cougares 80-0 in the Challenge Cup and has been named in the 19 man squad. But there is no place for fellow youngsters Rhys Evans and Rhys Williams.
Brett Hodgson, Joel Monaghan and Benny Westwood all return after being rested at the weekend.
Wolves’ coach Tony Smith said: “Castleford have done really well this year. It’s only been in the last few Super League games that they’ve probably faltered slightly which makes them even more dangerous for our fixture because they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways. They have shown they are a very, very capable team and have at different stages been leading the competition. They’ve played some terrific Rugby League with the ball and also in defence so that makes for a really good challenge for us today and one we’ve been looking forward to for some time.”
