WARRINGTON Borough Council has won an Investors in People Silver award.
At the formal presentation ceremony, Investors in People spokesman Colin Jones praised the authority for being one of less than one per cent of IIP organisations to qualify for the silver award.
He said: “To gain the prestigious Investors in People award for the first time is a significant achievement. To retain it every time a review is due is even more impressive because the organisation has to demonstrate not only that they still meet the standard, but also show they have improved their business since the last time.
“Warrington Borough Council has been doing this for 10 years now.”
There are around 30,000 recognised accredited Investors in People organisations in the UK, with 4,000 of these in the North West.
Currently, only about 200 of these have achieved the Silver Award -less than 1 per cent of the total.
The report highlights excellence in communications, employee engagement, values and recognition, learning and development and talent management.
Leaders of the three party groups on the council, Terry O’Neill (Lab), Ian Marks (Lib Dem) and Keith Bland (Cons) were present at the ceremony, along with council chief executive Diana Terris.
Cllr Marks said: “We are extremely proud of this achievement. At a time when many other local authorities are focusing solely on taking costs out, we are recognising the contributions that our staff can make to the future of service provision.”

Not the impression that I get.
Any chance of an Investors in Customers campaign? Thought not!
How the present Council continues to get this award is beyond me. The impression I get is that the Council could not care less about itrs Customers. Anyone had any face to face contact with any Department recently? I have and I was appalled by the way I was treated by fairly junior members of staff. Do the Directors and Executive Board know what is going on?
