Phased road closures planned for carriageway resurfacing

PHASED road closures on a busy stretch of road are set to come into force next month (March) for up to six weeks on the A50 Cliff Lane at Grappenhall, Warrington.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to bring into force a temporary prohibition of driving and clearway starting on March 6 to allow carriageway resurfacing works.

The Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway as follows: A50 Cliff Lane from its junction with Knutsford Road to the roundabout at Grappenhall Lane; A50 Cliff Lane from its junction with the access to the Fire Station to the Borough Boundary.
The Order will be effective from 6th March 2023 for 6 weeks, as and when signed on site.
The works will be implemented in phases as follows: Phase 1: Approach to roundabout at Grappenhall Lane, between 10pm & 5am; Phase 2: Approach to the Borough Boundary, between 7pm & 1am. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative route will be via A50 Knutsford Road, A56 Stockport Road, A56 Camsley Lane, A56 Booths Hill Road, A56 Higher Lane, B5159 High Legh Road, B5159 West Lane and vice versa. The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing.
