UPDATED: A drink driver was arrested after police and fire crews were called to the M62 westbound carriageway at Winwick, Warrington, in the early hours of today following a collision between a hatchback and a large goods vehicle.
No-one was trapped but two people were placed in the care of ambulance personnel.
The incident was reported just before 3am and emergency services were still at the scene at 3.30am.
One lane on the M62 Westbound between J9-8 at Winwick, was affected as police and firefighters from Penketh assessed the scene.
