Investigation underway after house fire

AN investigation is underway following a house fire at Poplars & Hulme, Warrington, this afternoon (Tuesday).

Shortly before 2 pm, crews from Birchwood and Lymm were called to reports of a fire at a property on Grasmere Avenue.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze in the living room of the property. The crews used a hose reel jet to put out the flames and a high-pressure fan to clear smoke.
All utilities to the house were isolated.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be undertaken.

In another incident, one crew from Birchwood was called out to an unattended bonfire on Lilford Avenue, Bewsey, shortly after 1:30 pm.
A bonfire consisting of wood and tree cuttings had been lit and then left unattended. A hose reel jet was used by firefighters to put out the fire.

Earlier, shortly before 8 am two crews were called to reports of a light fitting on fire at a property on Northway, Warrington.
On arrival they found smoke issuing from the building and used a large fan to clear the premises.
