Coffee shop and cafe plan for former farm shop

PLANS to transform a former farm shop into a coffee shop and cafe on green belt land at Walton, Warrington, has been put to the town’s planners.

The proposals involve a change of use of an existing Moore Farm Shop on Runcorn Road, which is understood to have closed down during the COVID-19 pandemic, into a coffee shop and cafe, with associated parking, along with external alterations, car parking layout improvements cycling storage, landscaping and outside seating – part retrospective.
The site received planning permission for a farm shop in 2009.

Agents for the applicant Ms K Derbyshire, say the proposals would allow the site to be used sustainably, economically, socially and environmentally through the use of this brownfield site and existing building, so as to provide an accessible facility that would support access to the countryside for recreational purposes, without any detrimental harm to the area or towards the openness of the green belt.
They also consider that the proposed sensitive economic use of this brownfield land, which is accessible to the surrounding population, could then be actively used without detriment to the openness of the green belt, highway safety or any nearby residential accommodation.
Warrington Borough Council planners will make a decision on the application under delegated powers.
