THE chief executive of VisitBritain met representatives of the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership during a visit to the county.

Patricia Yates spent two days visiting the county, seeing what it has to offer, and meeting with business leaders.

She visited Chester Zoo and Jodrell Bank and found out more about Cheshire’s world famous attractions and discussed opportunities and challenges in the county.

Trevor Brocklebank, deputy chairman of Cheshire and Warrington LEP and chairman of Marketing Cheshire, said: “It was great to be able to welcome Patricia to the county to show some of what Cheshire has to offer to visitors from around the world.
“Tourism and leisure are absolutely vital to our local economy so it’s important we continue to showcase it the best that we can by working with partners such as VisitBritain.
“While we’re incredibly proud of our attractions, restaurants, bars and hotels, and there is so much good stuff happening here, it was also important we got the chance to discuss with Patricia the challenges that businesses are facing and how we can work together to help them not just tackle those challenges but thrive.”

Patricia Yates said: “It’s been a breath of fresh air to be in beautiful Cheshire visiting tourism businesses and attractions and seeing first-hand the range of outstanding experiences on offer. It has also been hugely valuable to listen and talk to businesses about how we can work together to drive growth from tourism, and to highlight our work to support the industry.
“Tourism is an industry that can deliver growth like no other and it’s been really fantastic to see the activity Marketing Cheshire is delivering, working with local businesses and stakeholders to attract visits and support the visitor economy.”
